Due to the Ubiquitous nature of her husband’s job, Hajiya Rabi Hassan has traveled and lived in many cities of Nigeria. In 1988, she acquired her first degree in Microbiology from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
Her passion to excel and explore other fields led her to acquire a Diploma in Banking and Finance and then a Masters Degree in Banking and Finance at Bayero University, Kano, in 1999/2000. By the time she acquired the Masters degree, she became discouraged to work in the banking industry due to a Credit Management course she studied. This course revealed the intricacies of bank lending, leading to bad debts by fraudsters in the 90’s. The course lecturer was a true example by how he was purged out of a reputable bank for lack of recovery of loans genuinely approved by the bank. Then, she developed the passion for caring for children. This was what she found fulfillment in and it motivated her to acquire another Diploma in Education (2004) and a Masters in Education Management (2010) at University of Science & Technology River State, Port Harcourt.
She has worked as a teacher for over 12 years. Her experience covers both strategic planning and day to day management in education institutions.
Hajiya Rabi Hassan brought her wealth of experience, vision and mission into the Education Sector by being a leader of a women organization called POWA (a non-governmental organization) where she was at the forefront of the yearnings of the members, to build a secondary school, called POWA Comprehensive Secondary School, Miniokoro, Port Harcourt, which was commissioned in 2009.
She became the Principal for three (3) years and worked with other qualified educationalists to deliver quality education to the students of the school. She handed over POWA Comprehensive Secondary School and the primary school, POWA Cottage School (PCS) Umuahia, Abia State to the appropriate body when she was to leave in 2011.
Her joy today as she said upon her departure was: that she has given hope to the hopeless children and the teachers, a conducive learning and well equipped environment.
She gave over sixty (60) able women and men employment into a Federal institution as teachers and they are making progress individually in the college till date.
With the vast experience Hajia Rabi Hassan has of being a wife, a mother, women leader and seasoned educationalist, she has brought her passion into: Central Emirate International Academy (CEIA) for Nursery, Primary and Secondary Co-Education College, to drive her point further home that: Education is the bedrock of every society and is not an option but a necessity.
